The monument to the founder of the first Tajik state stands within the National Unity and Revival of Tajikistan memorial complex on Dusti Square in the center of Dushanbe.

The memorial complex and monument to the first emir of the Tajik state (the Samanid Empire) Ismoil Somoni, was erected in 1999 to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the Samanid Empire, the first Tajik state.
The bronze statue of Ismoil Somoni rises 13 meters high.
