MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Azerbaijan enjoy friendly and fraternal relations, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova said during a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova on 18 February, BelTA has learned.
"Certainly, the relations between our leaders, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev, gave an impetus to the relations between our peoples, countries and parliaments. Numerous official, state and working visits of the leaders of our countries demonstrate that we continue to develop friendly relations between us. I would like to note that Aleksandr Lukashenko's visit to Azerbaijan last May once again showed the strength and power of friendship and relations between our leaders," Sahiba Gafarova stated. "I would like to again express my gratitude to you as a representative of the Belarusian parliament and to all members of the delegation as representatives of the Belarusian people that Aleksandr Lukashenko was the very first leader of a non-Muslim country to visit Karabakh."
According to her, Belarus is a strategic partner for Azerbaijan. "Considering the current status of our relations, it is not enough to say that we have friendly and fraternal relations: we are strategic partners. Over 170 documents have been signed between our states. I believe this number will grow," Sahiba Gafarova emphasized.
