Forum of traditional culture in Mogilev to feature eight countries

MOGILEV, 9 April (BelTA) - The 8th International Forum “Traditional Culture as a Strategic Resource for Sustainable Development of Society” will be held in Mogilev on 15-19 April, BelTA learned from the Mogilev Oblast methodical center of folk art and cultural and educational work.

The forum will help expand the boundaries of cultural space, exchange useful information and work experience, and establish business contacts for further cooperation. The event will be attended by scientists and specialists in the study of folklore and traditional culture from eight countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Uzbekistan.

The program of the forum will be rich and diverse. It will include the international research and practice conference “Folk arts and crafts: from origins to the present”, the exhibitions “Dagestan: Inspiration and Traditions”, “Journey of the Matryoshka Doll” and “Beauty and Traditions of Folk Costume”, an exposition of elements of intangible cultural heritage of Mogilev Oblast and the exhibition-fair “Treasury of Folk Crafts of Mogilev Oblast”.

The program will also feature the Calling of Spring rite reenactment, workshops, concerts, round tables and press conferences. The forum participants will tour districts of the region to get familiar with the best practices in preserving traditional culture. Plans are in place to sign agreements on cultural cooperation.

The International Forum “Traditional Culture as a Strategic Resource for Sustainable Development of Society” has been held in Mogilev since 2012. Representatives of almost 30 countries from near and far abroad have taken part in the event since then.
