First stage of tactical air defense exercise begins in Belarus

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – The first stage of a tactical exercise for air defense missile forces has begun in Belarus, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The exercise is supervised by a deputy chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command. The second stage of the exercise will take place after the troops redeploy to the Russian army exercise area Ashuluk. Live ammunition will be used there.

The efforts will be primarily focused on improving the cohesion of command and control bodies and troops of air defense missile units, on improving air defense skills in a complicated and rapidly changing situation involving high-intensity radioelectronic jamming. The personnel will practice fighting unmanned aerial vehicles taking into account the experience Russia has acquired during regional conflicts.

The personnel will use issue hardware to carry out combat training missions.

Columns of military vehicles and special vehicles will have to travel to exercise locations. Police advises Belarusian motorists to be cautious and to observe traffic rules.

The tactical exercise for air defense missile forces will last till 26 August.
