MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – Deputy Chief Engineer for Personnel Training - Head of the Training Center of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) Aleksandr Yerin discussed the personnel selection and training process for the BelNPP as he spoke at a roundtable hosted by BelTA.
“We started recruiting personnel a long time ago. Thus, in 2013, we embarked on a massive recruitment and training of operational personnel. We hired foreign specialists with experience in the operation and construction of power units, as well as Belarusian specialists with experience in traditional energy, at thermal power plants and electrical power plants,” Aleksandr Yerin said.
He added that personnel is selected and trained in line with individual programs depending on the length of their service, experience, qualifications and competences. Thus, there is a uniform qualifications directory that specifies requirements for each position at the nuclear power plant.
“Educational institutions of Belarus and Russia help us with advanced training of personnel. Now we work closely with Rosatom Technical Academy and Rosatom Corporate Academy. We also sent personnel to the Obninsk Institute of Atomic Energy and Ivanovo State Power Engineering University for retraining. Specialists who majored in the operation of thermal power plants were sent for retraining to study the operation of nuclear power plants. This will help our personnel move up the career ladder and get promotions within the BelNPP,” he said.
In addition to general requirements, employees must undergo a psychophysiological examination. “We have set up an appropriate laboratory at the training center. We have our own physiologists and psychologists who conduct examinations,” Aleksandr Yerin noted.
