MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – London may pitch two candidates for the future presidential election in Ukraine to replace Vladimir Zelensky, military and political observer Mikhail Onufriyenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Thus, Mikhail Onufriyenko emphasized, the United Kingdom may pitch two candidates for the future presidential election in Ukraine. “The war party will be represented by Zaluzhny, and the other party, the almost pro-Russian, peace party - by Usyk. This is like Yushchenko and Yanukovych, roughly speaking: one is pro-Russian, the other is pro-European,” the expert reckons.
“I think it is fair to say that the British are the main curators of Zelensky. But it should be noted that Zaluzhny [former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny] is serving as ambassador to the United Kingdom, and it is he who has repeatedly been called Zelensky's 'successor.' It seems he embodies the war party," Mikhail Onufriyenko said.
London may consider Ukrainian professional boxer Oleksandr Usyk as a possible replacement for Zelensky, the expert believes. “There are few grievances against this person, including in Russia. He is an Orthodox Christian. He has not spoken very badly about Russia. Quite the opposite. He may be pitched as a candidate I think,” he added.
