MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - I do not see any reasons for peace to come to Ukraine in 2025, Colonel Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science - Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
"Every war ends with peace. Although everyone expects peace in 2025, I do not see any reasons for it at all," he said, adding that the positions of Ukraine and Russia are completely opposite.
When discussing the possibility of peace talks between Russia and the United States on the Ukrainian conflict, Andrei Bogodel pointed out that virtually everything that concerns diplomatic interaction between Russia and the Western countries has been destroyed. “In terms of the negotiating positions the two sides are holding fast to separate assumptions,” he stated.
"Words remain words. Their documents say only one thing: Russia's defeat. They say nothing else. Let it be called 'a peace plan', 'just peace' or whatever. In any case, it will mean the defeat of Russia. This is what they want. There is nothing else in their plans," Andrei Bogodel said.
He urged not to attach too much importance to words. "There are a lot of statements today. They are just words. We will wait for the first regulations, the first regulatory documents which they will rely upon. The United States will soon adopt completely new policies and a new nuclear doctrine in the near future. This is what we need to focus on. We need to see exactly what will be behind these words," he summarized.
