EEC, CIS Executive Committee sign cooperation plan for 2021-2022

MOSCOW, 5 February (BelTA) – An action plan for 2021-2022 to implement a memorandum on closer cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was signed by Chairman of the EEC Board Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev in Almaty on 5 February, BelTA learned from the EEC press service.

“The plan provides for the implementation of joint projects and activities. In addition to that, consultations are to be held to reconcile the EAEU law and the CIS legal framework, including with a view to eliminating contradictions between the draft legal acts that are in the works in the EAEU and the CIS. The document also provides for a broader involvement of the youth, public associations and business communities in the work of the EAEU and the CIS,” the press service informed.

The memorandum on closer cooperation between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee was signed on 27 November 2018. It provides for cooperation in customs regulation, efforts to ensure traceability and labeling of goods, public procurement, consumer protection, digital economy, tax policy and administration, foreign trade, competition policy and antitrust regulation, as well as sanitary, veterinary, quarantine and phytosanitary measures. The memorandum enables representatives of the EAEU and the CIS bodies to participate in meetings of expert groups hosted by the EEC and the CIS bodies, as well as in meetings of advisory bodies under the EEC Board and CIS sectoral cooperation bodies.
