EEC bolsters cooperation with WHO

MOSCOW, 20 October (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) is strengthening cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), with WHO experts already supporting the review of EEC regulations, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina told a briefing for the press in Moscow on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

Iya Malkina said that recently Board Member (Minister) on Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Nazarenko and WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge have signed the relevant memorandum. “The memorandum will help strengthen and further develop cooperation between EEC and WHO in five main areas: combating the spread of infectious diseases, regulating the circulation of medicines and medical products, product safety, health protection of workers and their family members in the country of employment, provision of high-tech medical care, development of healthcare information systems, including telemedicine,” Iya Malkina explained.

“WHO experts have already been providing support in reviewing the commission's normative acts,” the EEC official representative said.
