Opportunities for realizing healthy ambitions in our country are constantly expanding, and this trend will continue into the next five-year period, Kristina Obukhova, a delegate of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress, a personnel specialist of the Justice Directorate at the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, the chairperson of the youth wing of the primary organization of the Belarusian Women's Union (BSU), said in an interview with BelTA.
A delegate from Gomel joined the Belarusian People's Congress as a representative of the Gomel regional organization of the Belarusian Women's Union. Kristina can serve as an example of the successful realization of youth potential. Her professional journey progressed step by step. After graduating from school, she enrolled into a university. The young law graduate became a court executor and then a specialist in the Justice Directorate. She also found her calling in public work under the auspices of the Belarusian Women's Union.
The delegate noted that the state has created the necessary conditions for the comprehensive upbringing, education, and development of young people. “In our country, girls have the same opportunities as boys to realize their rights and interests. Moreover, it is difficult to find another place with social guarantees and benefits for young families, happy motherhood, and childhood like those in our country. The support is multifaceted and targeted,” Kristina emphasized.

The delegate’s organization is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for families, strengthening the value of family, and promoting people’s well-being. “We help mothers and children not just in words, but through concrete action. Our work takes many forms. For instance, across our region, we implement numerous projects to support mothers and children. We also provide charitable aid to children in need, offer care for hospitalized children, and help those living in shelters. Our major focus is also on improving women’s health through the ‘Women’s Health – Health of the Nation’ campaign, aimed at preventing and detecting serious diseases early. This is truly vital not only for an individual woman and her family, but for the nation’s demographic situation as a whole,” the young woman stated.
“As outlined in our country’s social and economic development program until 2030, one of the key priorities is the demographic component: increasing the birth rate and strengthening the traditional family. Achieving these goals will require a comprehensive set of measures and objectives. These include further improving the quality of life, working conditions and state support mechanisms for families, reducing divorce rates, and changing public attitudes toward the idea of having a large family,” emphasized the delegate to the Belarusian People’s Congress.
“I would call the Belarusian People’s Congress a large-scale platform for open dialogue among all branches of government, business, the scientific community, and public and religious associations. It is a platform where the future of Belarus is determined based on contemporary realities,” Kristina Obukhova emphasized.
The lawyer separately drew attention to the broad representation at the People’s Congress of Belarusians of different professions, ages, and genders. There are many examples in Belarus of successful careers and the advancement of women in the production sector or in public life. “We see the growing participation of women in governance - in parliament, for instance; in the economy, where the female business circle is expanding; and there is strong representation in services, education, healthcare, as well as in the civil service. At the same time, the status of women as guardians of the home and family values remains highly important,” the delegate stressed.
