MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) - Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus - First Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Gulevich took part in a meeting of the CSTO Military Committee held via a video link on 10 November, BelTA learned from the Defense Ministry.
The parties exchanged views on the military and political situation in the regions of CSTO collective security. Viktor Gulevich reported on the challenges and threats in the Eastern European region.
The parties also discussed a number of key issues related to the implementation of certain instructions of the CSTO bodies and the CSTO Military Committee in such areas as the development of the CSTO peacekeeping potential, including involvement in UN peacekeeping activities, the organization and support of international flights of state (military) aviation of the CSTO member states, etc.
The chiefs of the general staffs of the armed forces of the CSTO member states approved the protocol for holding CSTO Military Committee meetings. The decisions taken at the meeting contributed to the strengthening of the CSTO military dimension, taking into account the national interests and priorities of the parties.
