MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya is expected to return to Belarus on 11 April, BelTA learned from Chief Academic Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Gursky during a press conference timed to World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day.

Vasily Gursky said: “We are going to welcome our dear woman cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya in the Minsk airport on 11 April. Representatives of the Academy of Sciences will also participate in it. [The space flight of a Belarusian citizen to the outer space] is a remarkable event. There is no doubt that it is a holiday and a festivity for our entire country, the result of long-term and fruitful work of many people.”

BelTA reported earlier that Marina Vasilevskaya’s flight lasted for 14 days, including 12 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS). While on the ISS Marina Vasilevskaya carried out a research program, which had been developed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in association with Roscosmos and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
