MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – The Congress of Belarusian Scientists is to be held in the second half of 2026 or early 2027, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Karanik told journalists, BelTA reports.
“The year 2026 is under consideration, or possibly early 2027. Right now we are looking at the second half of 2026. However, this depends on the president’s schedule and, to some extent, on our readiness to formulate a clear strategy for national scientific development to be debated at the congress. This is not simply about meeting to talk. The congress must yield strategic decisions, which must be carefully deliberated and prepared,” said the head of the National Academy of Sciences.
A reminder, the president of Belarus held a meeting to review a draft decree on improving scientific activity. Aleksandr Lukashenko provided a number of comments on the document. While the draft decree received overall support, certain provisions still require further refinement.
