MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - China is a close, reliable friend and good partner for Belarus, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong in Minsk on 16 May, BelTA has learned.
"For us, China is a close, reliable friend and a good partner. We appreciate the good relations between our countries and are proud of these relations. We have such good, constructive relations in many ways thanks to our leaders – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. In 2023, during Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit China the parties mapped out the main areas of further cooperation. It is important that the tasks have been identified in cooperation between the MPs of our countries," Natalya Kochanova said.
According to the speaker, the MPs of the two countries interact quite effectively. "We have held major events, which, in my opinion, have further deepened our relations. The women's organizations held a seminar of women from Belarus and China. Most recently, we conducted a roundtable on youth policy, which is very relevant," Natalya Kochanova noted.
"We have signed a cooperation agreement between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National People's Congress of China. The work on setting up a committee on cooperation between the MPs of our countries is on the home stretch," Natalya Kochanova added.
The Council of the Republic pays priority attention to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation with the People's Republic of China.
