MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) - BRICS countries need to do more to promote cultural tourism and youth cooperation, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said at the third expanded plenary meeting session on the topic "Interparliamentary humanitarian and cultural cooperation” at the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, BelTA has learned.
"We need to actively develop cultural tourism, invite each other to participate in international festivals held in our countries, organize theater tours and book fairs," Natalya Kochanova said.
The diversity of traditions and modern achievements of our countries could be showcased during the Days of National Cultures of the BRICS+ within the framework of Slavianski Bazaar and press tour organized on the same days. "Next year, the BRICS countries plan to create their own film academy and establish an annual film award. In order to popularize new films, to form a common ideological basis of the film industry, which absorbs a rich palette of national cultures, it seems expedient to hold film festivals in the participating countries. It will be a great honor for us to host one of these film festivals," Natalya Kochanova emphasized.
"BRICS unites countries that strive for social justice and better well-being of their peoples, providing employment and eradicating poverty, strengthening human potential, preserving natural, historical and cultural heritage. Therefore, no less important is the cooperation through women's and youth associations, public movements of workers, environmental, regional and expert diplomacy. Such formats will allow us to dynamically promote the unifying agenda of BRICS and more fully exchange national experience," Natalya Kochanova added. “We fully support the initiative of our Russian colleagues to actively participate in the work of the BRICS Association of Women Parliamentarians and the meeting of young parliamentarians on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Forum. We consider the regular BRICS+ Forum of Young Parliamentarians to be promising. One of the top cultural and educational youth projects can be a youth route to memorable places."
