BelTA joins Global South Joint Communication Partnership Program

ZHENGZHOU, 24 July (BelTA) - The Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA has joined the Global South Joint Communication Partnership Program. The signing ceremony took place during a meeting between BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich and President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua in Zhengzhou, China, BelTA has learned.

The heads of the leading news agencies of Belarus and China held talks on the sidelines of the SCO Media and Think Tank Summit. The parties discussed current issues of media cooperation, the role of mass media in shaping a multipolar world, and the expansion of international engagement.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a letter of intent to cooperate within the framework of the Global South Joint Communication Partnership Program. Fu Hua also presented BelTA with a certificate of partnership within the program.

“The countries of the Global South are, above all, about responsibility, not about ‘rights’ as claimed by the collective West. Responsibility for building a fair world that respects the identity and culture of every nation. Responsibility toward each other, regardless of a country’s size or the amount of gold reserves it has. Belarus is joining this initiative, and we are ready to do our utmost to help create a fair and multipolar world,” Irina Akulovich stated.

As noted in the letter, Global South countries are becoming increasingly influential, playing a growing role in advancing human progress.

“In order to amplify the voice of the Global South and increase its influence, promote broader dissemination of information across political, economic, cultural, and social spheres, and draw greater attention to Global South issues, the undersigned parties, driven by a common purpose and goals, express their intent to cooperate within the framework of the Global South Joint Communication Partnership Program,” the document emphasizes.

Participants in the program will continue to enhance cooperation, guided by information exchange and joint communication, with the aim of amplifying the voice of Global South countries, advocating for a fair and multipolar world order, and promoting inclusive and accessible economic globalization. The parties intend to establish a Global South media news network to facilitate the exchange of information and resources, thereby improving information dissemination efficiency and coverage.

The Global South Joint Communication Partnership Program was launched in July 2025 at the BRICS Media and Think Tank Forum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This initiative seeks to unite media resources, think tanks, and expert communities to promote a multipolar world and inclusive globalization. It goes beyond just sharing news, as it seeks to create a new level of informational solidarity, where every country, regardless of its economic development, has the opportunity to be heard.
