MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – Belavia will resume flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan in late December this year, Belavia Director General Igor Cherginets said at a press conference to discuss the launch of Belavia’s new flight program to Sri Lanka, BelTA learned from the airline’s press service.
“Thanks to the Belarusian president, the government, the Transport and Communications Ministry, and its Aviation Department, we obtained permission to resume regular flights to Almaty. The launch is scheduled for 18 December. We plan to operate flights twice a week,” Igor Cherginets said.
According to the press service, the return of Almaty to Belavia’s flight program is an event long awaited by many passengers. Before flights were suspended, the route enjoyed high demand. The flights are expected to be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The Minsk-Almaty route will be the airline’s second destination in Kazakhstan, after Astana.
Information on the updated schedule and ticket prices will be available soon, once all necessary approvals have been finalized.
