Belarusian government's focus on national security emphasized

GRODNO, 18 February (BelTA) – Matters of military security and national security are highly prioritized in Belarus. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich made the statement during a muster for heads of the oblast administrations and the Minsk city administration in the army exercise area Gozhsky on 18 February, BelTA has learned.

A muster for heads of the oblast administrations and the Minsk city administration, their deputies and heads of the military registration and enlistment offices took place at premises of the training center of the 6th Independent Guards Mechanized Brigade in the army exercise area Gozhsky on 18 February. The muster was supervised by the defense minister. The purpose of the muster is to improve the knowledge of the civil servants about joint actions during modern armed conflicts and improve their weapon handling skills.

Aleksandr Volfovich said: “The international situation is very complicated today. Some Western politicians try to start armed conflicts, provoke color revolutions, and sow chaos in neighboring countries in order to accomplish their own geopolitical goals. Events of H2 2020 demonstrated that Belarus is no exception in this regard. This is why matters of military security and national security are highly prioritized in our country.” The official stressed that the system to train executive personnel, who are responsible for territorial defense, smoothly operates in Belarus. Such musters are regularly held.

Results of last year's work will be summed up during the muster. Territorial defense tasks for the next academic year will be determined and common solutions will be worked out. Practice is in focus, this is why the muster is taking place in an army exercise area. In particular, participants of the muster saw joint actions of border guard personnel, army personnel, and territorial defense personnel. The units worked together to defend the state border and eliminate an illegal militant group. The civil servants were also made familiar with modern weapon systems, vehicles, and communications systems.

Shooting practice using current weapons of the Belarusian army is part of the muster as well. “People responsible for organizing territorial defense should know how to use all kinds of the weapons and military hardware he or she will be responsible for,” Aleksandr Volfovich stressed.

Such musters are held in various parts of the country every year. It is the seventh muster on record.
