Belarusian army’s Northwestern Operational Command going through combat readiness test

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – Commander of the Northwestern Operational Command, Major-General Aleksandr Bas is supervising a tactical exercise involving units, which are deployed for a combat readiness test, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The commander of the Northwestern Operational Command has presented a combat instruction and has assigned tasks to the units.

As part of the exercise the army units will have to set up their positions and camouflage hardware. Within the next few days they will have to set up defenses in designated areas and repulse an offensive by a simulated enemy.

“The purpose of the exercise is to check the ability of commanding officers to control their units in a defensive action. The personnel are supposed to acquire practice and improve skills during individual training, combat shakedown as part of units and as part of the exercise itself. The personnel, weapon systems and materiel, command posts are ready for this event,” Aleksandr Bas noted.
