MOSCOW, 16 January (BelTA) - On 16 January Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi laid flowers at the memorial to the warrior-liberator in Kemerovo, BelTA has learned from the embassy's press service.

"The memorial was erected in 2022 and is a copy of the monument in Berlin's Treptower Park. The Berlin monument designed by sculptor Evgeny Vuchetich epitomizes the story of Nikolai Masalov, a resident of Kuzbass, saving a German girl from the shelling zone in Berlin in the spring of 1945," the press service said.

The flower ceremony at the memorial marked the beginning of Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi's working visit to Kemerovo Oblast. The Belarusian diplomat is set to visit Kuzbass State Technical University, the Krasnobrodsky coal mine and the BelAZ maintenance center and to meet with Governor of Kemerovo Oblast Sergei Tsivilev.
