MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Belarus will host the 2027 World Championships in Fire and Rescue Sport, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Emergencies.

A Belarusian delegation headed by Deputy Emergencies Minister Sergei Salanovich is taking part in the XXVI International Conference of the International Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers in Baku, which has brought together the representatives of relevant agencies and national federations from various countries.

The decision that Minsk will host the 2027 World Championships was made at the conference, marking an important milestone for the development of fire and rescue sports and recognizing Belarus’ great achievements in this discipline.

Sergei Salanovich noted that the choice of Minsk is an acknowledgement of Belarus’ experience in hosting world-class events, including championships held in Minsk, Grodno, and Brest. He emphasized that the state leadership is consistently focused on the development of the sports infrastructure in the Belarusian capital, and the Belarusian side will take all necessary measures to hold the international competitions at the highest level. The 2027 World Championships will serve as more than just a celebration of sport, it will be a chance for Belarus to showcase its capacity to host major events and the renowned hospitality of its people.

Furthermore, the session saw the approval of the only world record set in 2025, which was achieved by Belarusian athlete Ksenia Gusak. During the World Championship among girls and juniors in Saransk, she set a new world record in the discipline “Climbing a scaling ladder into the window of the 2nd floor of the training tower,” covering the distance in 7.22 seconds. The previous record of 7.30 seconds had lasted for an entire decade.
