MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarus' Investigative Committee hosted a working meeting with representatives of the Drug Enforcement Administration under the United States Department of Justice. The parties discussed plans to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two agencies, BelTA learned from the Investigative Committee.
The Moscow office of the Drug Enforcement Administration coordinates DEA activities in Belarus. The U.S. delegation was told about functions and powers of the Investigative Committee, including its work to investigate illegal trade in narcotic drugs. The parties discussed some aspects of collaboration between investigators and other law enforcement agencies during pretrial criminal proceedings.
“The parties discussed cooperation prospects taking into consideration mutual interest in promoting comprehensive international cooperation in combating drug-related crimes. High on the agenda were technical aspects of signing the memorandum of cooperation between the two agencies,” the Investigative Committee informed.
