Belarus to conclude readmission agreements with Azerbaijan, Tajikistan

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarus is going to conclude readmission agreements with Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yuri Nazarenko said at the international conference in Minsk to discuss regional cooperation in combating illegal migration, BelTA has learned.

According to him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively working to conclude readmission agreements, which are one of the mechanisms for countering illegal migration. "We have signed such agreements with Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, and the European Union. The agreement with the EU has been suspended since 4 December 2021 over noncompliance by the European with its obligations," the minister noted.

According to him, Belarus is currently negotiating draft agreements with Azerbaijan and Tajikistan. An agreement with Kyrgyzstan is ready for signing.
