Participating in the event from the Belarusian side were First Deputy Chairman of Belstat Timofey Zhigarev and Deputy Head of the Industrial Production Index Department of the Main Directorate of Enterprise Statistics of Belstat Svetlana Cherkas.

During the meeting, representatives of CIS national statistical services discussed major aspects of digital transformation in official statistics, including the use of AI and modern information technologies in statistical production, the development and dissemination of open data, the creation and use of metadata based on international standards, the integration of information resources with metadata applications, national approaches to cataloging statistical indicators, applying metadata in statistical process management.

Speaking at a thematic session, Timofey Zhigarev emphasized that Belstat considers artificial intelligence not just a trend but a powerful tool to improve statistical services. "The virtual assistant we have implemented is already proving effective in automating respondent consultations and making statistical information more accessible. Thanks to this technology, respondents receive instant answers to standard questions at any time, while specialists can focus on handling more complex inquiries," he explained.

Timofey Zhigarev took stock of the Belarusian delegation's participation in the meeting and noted that digitalization is a vital component of sustainable development in national statistical systems. He stressed that exchanges of experience among CIS countries foster effective solutions and practical adoption of modern technologies.

"Participation in such events allows us not only to present our own developments but also to adopt valuable ideas that can be adapted to Belarus' statistical system. Modern statistics is about flexibility, technological advancement, and transparency, and Belstat is committed to continuing to make progress in these areas," he concluded.
