Belarus, Russia share views on military-political and geopolitical situation

MOSCOW, 13 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia share views on the military-political and geopolitical situation in the world, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told the media following the talks with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu and the consultations between the Security Councils of two countries in Moscow on 12 August, BelTA has learned.

"We share views on the military-political and geopolitical situation in the world," Aleksandr Volfovich noted.

According to him, the parties discussed hybrid threats that affect the security in the Union State and the security in the world. "As for the Union State, these modern challenges and threats are aimed primarily at destroying it, destabilizing our common space. Therefore, we discussed the ways of countering these challenges and threats," Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.

He added that the work on the Union State draft security concept is on the home stretch. "We also touched on the agreement on security guarantees between the two states," Aleksandr Volfovich said.

In general, the parties discussed a wide range of security issues. "Security is based on economy too. Russia and Belarus are two major economic partners," he said.

"Today, Belarus and Russia demonstrate an example of how nations should coexist and pursue the policy aimed primarily at improving social guarantees of citizens and their well-being," Aleksandr Volfovich summarized.
