MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The Belarus president’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont has explained to where the head of state “disappears” from mass media spotlight in an interview with the First News TV channel, BelTA has learned.

Natalya Eismont said: “I’d like to set the record straight about the matter. Nothing extraordinary, nothing unusual, and nothing unfamiliar. The format of reports to the president is the work that has been going on continuously for a rather long period of time. Some reports you and I cover and in particular, you cover them in your own mass media. Some are covered only briefly. But it is also a very important process for the sake of getting the entire country to hear and understand what reports are delivered to the president and what instructions the president gives as a result. And naturally there are reports that we don’t talk much about in mass media.”

In her words, this kind of reports is much more prevalent than those covered by mass media.

“It is the work the president does all the time. Speaking about the current period and the last few days. The president has travelled for 30,000km on a huge tour while working outside the country,” the press secretary of the head of state pointed out. “And when he was in various countries, when he was working in various countries across the globe, naturally the president was up-to-date about absolutely everything that was going on. Thanks to special mobile communications he periodically talked to various government officials. But certainly those were time-sensitive reports, the things that required the president’s attention at that moment.”

Natalya Eismont said that upon returning to Belarus after the lengthy tour abroad, Aleksandr Lukashenko once again immersed himself in work. “On Sunday evening the president worked and talked to many people about the latest topics. For the entire Monday the president had his switchboard on. The president worked and heard reports from various government officials. Naturally, I don’t know everything but I know for sure that the president talked to the prime minister for very long (he is the chairman of the organizing committee of the Belarusian People’s Congress). The president heard reports from the leadership of all the main defense, security, and law enforcement agencies. We understand that the situation is the most important thing. The leadership of the political staff. By the way, the president talked to the prime minister not only about preparations for the Belarusian People’s Congress but also about all the other matters of current interest,” the press secretary revealed some details of the head of state’s schedule.
