Belarus President Administration head tours Slavgorod District

SLAVGOROD DISTRICT, 8 October (BelTA) – Agricultural experiment, the One District, One Project concept, and local tourism are on the agenda of Belarus President Administration Head Dmitry Krutoi’s visit to Slavgorod District, BelTA has learned.

The visit started at the Slavgorod District Executive Committee to discuss the reforming of agricultural organizations by means of their enlargement on the example of Slavgorod District, Cherikov District and Klichev District of Mogilev Oblast. Dmitry Krutoi voiced plans for the agricultural experiment in Mikashevichi at the Dazhynki 2024 harvest festival.

The reform relies on enlargement. Plans are in place have three or four large farms in the districts, with the entire production and personnel base concentrated around them. The new experience will not be scaled up all over the country at once. The goal is to achieve greater results with fewer resources (workforce and materials). For this purpose, beacon farms will be enlarged and provided financial support. It is planned that in a few years such a model will become the basis of the Belarusian agricultural policy.

“On the example of three districts we are considering agricultural reforms through consolidation to optimize livestock facilities and resources,” Mogilev Oblast First Vice Governor Sergei Savitsky said. “We have already taken the first steps in Slavgorod District. Part of the way has been passed: now we have six farms and plans are to make four large facilities of them. Cherikov District and Klichev District are just at the start of this work.”

According to Sergei Savitsky, the positive aspect of such changes is the optimization of personnel. “These are both managers and specialists,” he said.- “Today there are a lot of small agricultural organizations and it is problematic to find enough personnel, including zootechnicians, veterinarians, agronomists and so on. Accordingly, we cannot provide a decent level of labor remuneration for small farms. With the consolidation of farms, we can allocate additional resources and fulfill our promises in terms of labor remuneration. This practice is being gradually scaled up across the country, and changes will take place in almost every district of Mogilev Oblast.”

Dmitry Krutoi also plans to take stock of the progress made in the One District, One Project concept in the region on the example of jelly marmalade production at Krasny Pischevik - Slavgorod and tourist potential of Slavgorod District with a visit to the hydrological natural monument of national importance Golubaya Krinitsa.
