Belarus plans to test 300km range missile in 2021

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – We are planning to test the Belarusian missile with a range of up to 300km in 2021, Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry Dmitry Pantus told reporters ahead of the meeting of the State Authority for Military Industry with the participation of the prime minister, BelTA has learned.

"We continue to work on the missile with a range of 300km for the Polonez complex. In 2020, we completed all ground tests and will start practical tests in 2021," said Dmitry Pantus.

According to the press service of the State Authority for Military Industry, ground tests of missile prototypes preliminary confirmed the main characteristics of the missiles and the correctness of the adopted technical solutions. The preparations for the first stage of firing tests of the prototype missiles at the Sary Shagan testing range in Kazakhstan have been completed. The tests are scheduled for February 2021.

According to Dmitry Pantus, the State Authority for Military Industry continues to work on a missile with a range of 70km for the Buk antiaircraft missile system. “In 2021, this product will undergo the third stage of tests. I think that following their results we will be able to state that Belarus can produce a medium-range missile,” said the chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry.
