Belarus’ local authorities help Moldovan children stranded at border

GRODNO, 29 March (BelTA) - Ruslan Abramchik, head of the main education department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA about the assistance provided to a children's choir from Moldova stranded at the border.

“The children will certainly be provided with all necessary help. They have already been taken off the bus because children should never stay in such conditions, despite any political decisions of Lithuania. The children have been taken to one of the schools in Oshmyany District for a hot breakfast,” Ruslan Abramchik said.

According to the head of the Grodno Oblast main education department, the children will be given the opportunity to take a shower and have some rest. “The education system will provide all the necessary support, including medical, psychological assistance if necessary,” Ruslan Abramchik added.

As BelTA reported earlier, Polish and Lithuanian border guards have been refusing to let in a bus carrying a children's choir from Moldova for almost two days already. The children first performed in Poland and then traveled to Minsk. However, any attempts to return home to Moldova on the same bus have been unsuccessful. First Polish and then Lithuanian border guards denied passage, keeping the children at the border all night. Natalia Barabanshchikova, the head of the music group and the Rhapsody choir studio, who is currently staying with the children at the border, told about the situation in a recorded video.
