Belarus' government approves program on healthcare, demographic security for 2021-2025

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) - The state program "People's Health and Demographic Security" for 2021-2025 has been approved by Resolution No.28 of the Council of Ministers of 19 January 2021, BelTA learned from the national legal internet portal.

"The program is comprehensive, inter-departmental. It will contribute to the achievement of the national security targets in health and demographic security and the Sustainable Development Goals at the national level,” the national legal internet portal said in a statement.

The priorities until 2025 include strengthening reproductive healthcare, promoting healthy lifestyles and health saving, improving support for families with children, improving their living conditions, strengthening the institution of the family. Emphasis will be made on outpatient and polyclinic service and healthcare in the regions, etc.

The document has six sub-programs: Family and Childhood, Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, Prevention and Overcoming Alcohol Abuse, Mental Health, Countering the Spread of Tuberculosis, Prevention of HIV Spread, Ensuring the Functioning of the Health System.

The state program provides for measures to strengthen the family planning service, improve the medical and genetic service, to improve state support for families with children (in the field of social protection, housing policy), develop the concept "Company friendly to parents" and also a national network "Healthy Cities and Towns." One of the initiatives is to limit the sale of energy drinks to minors.
