MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian feature film Babu produced by New Wave Production movie company and the Belarusfilm National Studio was awarded at the All-Russian Festival Shukshin Days at Altai, BelTA learnt from the film studio.
The Belarusian picture received a special diploma for artistic displaying of international relations.
The movie shows ordinary people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds confronting the world of big money and big interests.
A rich Azerbaijani businessman is on a business trip to Moscow when his seven-year old daughter Leila is abducted. The abductors intend to take the girl to the western border of Belarus where she will be further transported to Europe. However, an unexpected car accident frustrates their plans and the girl manages to escape. The frightened Leila is found by a lonely rural woman Polina. After meeting Leila her life will never be the same again. Although Leila and Polina speak different languages, they manage to understand each other and confront the abductors together…
The movie features Tamara Mironova, Alexander Kashperov, Andrei Dushechkin, Igor Denisov, Mikhail Kaminsky, Ilgar Gasanov, Kamran Agabalayev, Nigar Akhmadova. The film was shot in Belarus and Azerbaijan.
The picture was awarded at the 23rd international film festival Golden Vityaz: Tamara Mironova got a diploma for the second best actress.
The All-Russian Festival Shukshin Days at Altai is part of the Shukshin Days that took their start in Western Siberia in 1976 after the death of actor, producer and writer Vasily Shukshin. This year eleven pictures competed for the main award of the forum. Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov's V Ozhidanii Morya (Waiting for the Sea) won the festival.
