Belarus’ Federation of Trade Unions, Russia’s Federation of Independent Trade Unions expanding ties

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus is expanding cooperation with the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.

The corresponding agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus by its Chairman Yuri Senko and the leader of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Sergei Chernogayev. The parties noted that the agreement is founded on a profound mutual understanding and a shared commitment to resolving emerging issues.

According to Sergei Chernogayev, the agreement provides that the trade unions of the two countries will collaborate on the entire spectrum of current challenges, as well as any issues that may arise in the future. He added that trade unions today aim to cooperate across a broad range of areas, from labor relations to family support, and are prepared to share expertise and innovative ideas on all relevant topics. Notably, they will keep each other informed about their participation in drafting legislation affecting workers.

The parties have also agreed to support each other on the international stage. Plans include the exchange of delegations and specialists to study best practices in labor and trade union activities through forums, seminars, and programs at institutions such as International University MITSO established by the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. Furthermore, the trade unions of both countries intend to advance cooperation in organizing recreation and health programs for their members.

According to the press service, this event represents another significant step in the long-standing and constructive partnership with the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, which unites over 128,000 primary trade union organizations and more than 19 million members.
