MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus have launched a combat readiness inspection of military units and formations, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
“Today we are beginning a comprehensive check of the combat readiness of military units and subunits of the Armed Forces. The inspection will take place in stages, with a gradual increase in both personnel and the number of units involved. A distinctive feature of this inspection is that, while it is a scheduled exercise for the preparation of the Armed Forces trained reserve, for the units being tested it will take the form of an unscheduled, surprise inspection,” Belarus’ Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said.
The main goal of the measures is to assess the readiness and ability of personnel to carry out the full range of tasks assigned. “This includes calling up reservists, withdrawing weapons, military and special equipment from storage, conducting combat coordination, and preparing for deployment to concentration areas. Special attention will be paid to practicing security, camouflage, and countering modern threats such as unmanned aerial vehicles,” the minister noted.
At the final stage of the inspection, comprehensive exercises will be held at various training grounds and locations with the units involved. “New forms and methods of conducting defensive and offensive operations will be tested, with extensive use of drones and electronic warfare systems. The results of the inspection will be analyzed and incorporated into the further training of Armed Forces units,” Viktor Khrenin emphasized.
He also explained that the inspection under the Defense Ministry and General Staff plan and the inspection ordered by the president of Belarus, which has been underway since 16 January, are parallel but unrelated events. “These are completely different checks. The one conducted by the commander-in-chief is by decision of our president. The inspection under the Defense Ministry and General Staff plan is a separate exercise, but the commander-in-chief has been informed and is aware that we are carrying it out,” Viktor Khrenin pointed out.
