MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) - The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation. The document was signed by First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik and Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoy, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The agreement is aimed at expanding joint fundamental and applied research and development in the most important areas of science and technology, as well as creating conditions for the development of scientific schools, training of scientists of higher qualification, advanced training of scientists and specialists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the implementation of joint projects. The strategic partnership of scientists of the NASB and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences implies coordination of actions and joining efforts in scientific, scientific-technical and educational activities.
The parties agreed to develop various forms of cooperation. They include commercialization of the results of joint research activities, organization of mutually beneficial international contacts in science and technology, joint participation in applications for national and international grants, organization of programs for education and training of personnel of higher scientific qualification, holding joint international conferences, symposiums and seminars to promote the achievements of scientists from Belarus and Russia.
On 21-24 April, a delegation of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is paying a visited to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The Russian delegation got familiar with the latest scientific developments presented at the permanent exhibition “Achievements of Domestic Science for Production”. The program of the visit includes tours of a number of scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences: B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics, Institute of Applied Physics, O.V. Roman Powder Metallurgy Institute.
The leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held talks with the delegation of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences took place on 22 April 2025. The parties discussed promising areas and mechanisms of joint scientific and technical activities. The parties agreed to develop a roadmap for the implementation of the agreement and expansion of cooperation between scientists in the near future. Among the areas of mutual interest are physics and engineering sciences, biology, medicine for life, pharmacology, research in Antarctica, others.
