MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Another battery of Tor-M2 air defense missile systems has arrived in Belarus, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
According to the Defense Ministry, Tor-M2 air defense missile systems enable efficient air defense of designated installations. The system is capable of carrying out combat missions in any climatic conditions. A Tor-M2 battery can simultaneously engage 16 targets, which travel from any direction at speeds of up to 730 meters per second at a range of up to 12km and at an altitude of up to 10km in daytime and at night in any weather.
“Distinguishing features of the Tor-M2 air defense missile system are high mobility, a short response time, good effect on a broad range of targets, and automated engagement procedures. The delivery of another batch of Tor-M2 air defense missile systems represents a vivid example of fruitful military technology cooperation between Belarus and Russia in matters of improving the joint regional air defense system,” stressed Andrei Severinchik, Chief of the Air Defense Missile Forces, Chief of the Air Defense Missile Forces Office of the Air Defense and Air Force Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces.
The systems Belarus has received have been adjusted by Russian designers taking into account the experience of their deployment as part of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
