Ambassador: UAE, Belarus have promising future

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – The relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Belarus have a promising future, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh said at an event to mark the 53rd National Day of the UAE, BelTA has learned.

"The relations between the UAE and Belarus have a promising future, particularly after Belarus received the SCO membership status and BRICS partner status, two key blocs of the emerging new world order," the diplomat said. "The two countries' participation in the Conferences of the Parties on climate change strengthens the relations and opens up new opportunities for both countries to utilize their resources to combat climate change and find solutions to achieve sustainable development, which will positively affect out citizens and the world. The course of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, towards sustainable development reaffirms the UAE's commitment to accelerating climate action, building a climate-resilient economy and a global model of international cooperation on climate issues," the ambassador noted.

He also pointed out that the UAE is among the top five largest donor countries in the world. Since 1971, the country has provided humanitarian aid to 206 countries on six continents and covered 25 sectors totaling about $100 billion.

"The UAE continues to consolidate its position as one of the most important countries contributing to the efforts to tackle the most significant challenges on the international arena, promote comprehensive development and achieve prosperity for all peoples of the world. In recent years, the UAE has played a decisive role in the adoption of many international resolutions and draft resolutions, the positive impact of which extends to the peoples of different religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds," the UAE ambassador to Belarus summarized.
