MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – Ahead of the weekend, around 4,800 trucks are queuing up at the Belarusian border checkpoints to enter the European Union, BelTA learned from Belarus’ State Border Committee.
“On 30 October, the State Border Committee received an official notification from the Lithuanian authorities regarding the operation of the border crossings Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) and Salcininkai (Benyakoni),” the Belarusian border agency noted.
The busiest route for trucks is through the Polish checkpoint Kukuryki (Kozlovichi), where 2,920 trucks are waiting to enter the EU. Over the past 24 hours, its personnel cleared 62% of the normal number of trucks.
Personnel of the Lithuanian border checkpoint Medininkai (Kamenny Log) accepted just 12% of trucks in 24 hours. A total of 1,240 trucks are queuing up there.
Personnel of the Latvian border checkpoint Paternieki (Grigorovshchina) handled 30% of trucks. Some 610 trucks are waiting to enter the country.
There are 1,110 passenger cars and 70 buses queuing up near the Polish border checkpoint Terespol (Brest). Its personnel checked only 38% of vehicles over the past day.
