MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - The main political goal of the West is to revise history, which is a very dangerous trend, Nikita Belenchenko, Director of the Center for International Studies of the Faculty of International Relations at Belarusian State University, said in V Teme [On Point] on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“When we talk about the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we talk not only about the past, but also about the present and the future. After all, the present and the future are inextricably linked with historical heritage and national identity, as well as the place and role of modern society in the future world,” said Nikita Belenchenko.
If we are talking about Western countries, their main political goal is to revise history and show the events of the past in a completely different light, the director of the Center for International Studies of the Faculty of International Relations at Belarusian State University said. “This is a dangerous trend. For 10-15 years they have been trying to put Stalin and Hitler on the same line. They try to present the Red Army not as victors, but as invaders. They try to present the Soviet soldier as an occupier. For me, a person who studied in the Soviet era, it is unimaginable and incomprehensible,” he emphasized.
Nikita Belenchenko is sure that the heirs of the victors should not tolerate such trends. “If we preserve the historical truth, historical memory, we will be able to continue to educate our children in the right direction,” he added.
