
MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – A joint statement of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian on more profound advancement of relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been signed as a result of top-level negotiations in the Palace of Independence in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The statement reflects the affinity of the positions of the two countries on matters of bilateral, regional, and international relations. The statement reaffirms the policy aiming for consistent intensification of traditionally friendly and strategic ties between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamic and persistent advancement of Belarus-Iran interaction, active exchange of visits at the top level and the high level in the last few years, which makes the established interstate ties stable and facilitates more profound interaction in all spheres.

Belarus and Iran confirmed their resolve to advance the bilateral relations in compliance with the roadmap on comprehensive cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2023-2026. The roadmap was signed when Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited Iran on 12-13 March 2023.
The statement reads that Belarus and Iran build their relations on the basis of principles of sovereign equality, territorial integrity, independence, non-interference in internal affairs of each other, bona-fide cooperation and mutual respect for interests. The parties also reaffirmed the importance and the need to observe the principle of non-interference in domestic affairs of other countries without resorting to force or without threatening to use force, the principle of mutually beneficial cooperation in the name of peace, stability, and development as well as norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations Organization.
