Over Br745,000 allocated for gifted students from Belarusian president’s fund

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – More than Br745,000 has been allocated from the president’s special fund to support gifted students and to provide financial support to intellectual and creative associations. The corresponding decision of the board of the fund was approved by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Winners of international Olympiads and competitions were awarded 25 grand prizes and the badge “Winner of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Social Support of Gifted School and University Students”; winners of national Olympiads and competitions were awarded 278 special prizes.

A total of 180 university students, including military students, were awarded a presidential scholarship for academic excellence, research contributions and creative work. In addition to that, financial support was provided to the Scarlet Shoulder Straps search club of the Gomel Cadet School and the Socium student research laboratory of Belarusian State University. The special fund is designed to identify and support the most motivated and gifted students, create an enabling environment for them to develop their skills and talents.
