MOSCOW, 18 February (BelTA) - The West has lost the first round of its campaign against Russia and Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on 18 February, BelTA has learned.
The president said: “Our military and political cooperation has recently come to the front thanks to the efforts of our western partners. We have to respond both in terms of our military exercises and diplomacy. I think they are unlikely to succeed here as well. They have already lost the first round. I can see that they are preparing for the second round today. They are scaring the whole world saying that we are getting ready to attack, surround, and destroy Ukraine. We have never had such plans. Nevertheless, we will continue conducting military exercises to train our military. This is something we cannot do without.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that on 17 February he reviewed the Belarusian-Russian exercise Allied Resolve 2022, the performance of both Russian and Belarusian units. “There were a lot of foreigners, journalists there. It was very impressive. Tomorrow, if everything goes well, we will together oversee an interesting military event, too,” he said.
