MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Belarus will let no one rewrite the heroic history of the Soviet people, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a solemn assembly to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War in Minsk on 6 May, BelTA has learned.
“On the festive day of 9 May, we will once again bow to the fallen soldiers at obelisks and memorials, lay flowers at the Eternal Flame, join Belarus Remembers commemorative campaign. These traditions will be continued by our children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren. This is what we have gathered for and what we are doing all this for today. We will not allow anyone to rewrite the heroic history of the Soviet people. We are not alone in this. We will do our best to be worthy of our dear veterans - true patriots and the best sons of our Fatherland,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The head of state also addressed the war veterans, saying: “You are heroes! Strong and unconquered!”

The president emphasized that the greatness of the feat gives the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the veterans strength for new achievements in the name of peace in their homeland. “We bow low to you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
In conclusion, Aleksandr Lukashenko wished everyone Happy Victory Day. “The memory of those who died will lie forever in our dear Belarus, this holy land. There will always be honor and glory to the victorious nation. Happy Victory Day to you, Belarusians, our guests, those who treat us with kindness and love. Peace, well-being and prosperity to our dear Belarus!” he said.
