MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) - The truth will be Belarus' main weapon in the information war, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media on 3 June, BelTA has learned.
“We do not work well [in the information field]. That is why I have recently visited the Defense Ministry and held a meeting on information, psychological and other operations. We are still falling short here. All of you are going to do it honestly. My demand is simple - there must be no fake news,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president agreed that people are more attracted to eye-catching photos and high-profile incidents, which later turn out to be fake news. There will be no such things in Belarus, he stressed. “We are now forming these ‘special forces'. But we will not do anything without you. The power is in the truth. The truth wins anyway,” the head of state told the media.
