MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated the personnel and veterans of the transport troops on their professional holiday – Railway Troops Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.
“In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people over fascism, we honor with special reverence the valor of the railway troops, whose hard work played a crucial role in the logistical support of the largest operations of the Great Patriotic War. Every steel artery connecting the front and the rear, along which freight, passenger, and medical trains traveled, was a road of life and hope,” the congratulatory message reads.
The head of state noted that the Motherland highly appreciated the contribution of the railway troops: for their courage and heroism, more than 400,000 soldiers and officers were awarded orders and medals.
“It is gratifying that the best traditions of the victorious generation have been preserved to this day. The personnel of the transport troops successfully carry out tasks to improve the transport support system of the Armed Forces, enhance its efficiency and constant readiness, making a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities,” the president emphasized.
