MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Relations with Russia are on an upward trajectory now; Minsk and Moscow have passed a serious stress test, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions, BelTA has learned.

“Our relations with Russia are now at a very high point. Minsk and Moscow have passed a serious stress test – and we’ve passed it successfully. We did it because the union we’ve built with Russia isn’t just a nice facade, but a truly functional mechanism. Despite all the challenges,” emphasized the Belarusian leader.

He noted that between 2022–2024, Belarus rerouted significant export volumes to the Russian market, boosting production and sales in areas where Russians had demand.

“Russia accounted for the bulk of our export growth over these three years – an additional $10 billion. Russians are ready to finance many projects, ready to pay,” the head of state remarked. “No surprise here. They’re primarily willing to fund projects that Russia needs. That’s natural. And we have the production capacity and expertise – we just need to step up and utilize those funds. Some of our enterprises are already succeeding at this. But others keep waiting around. And complaining.”
