MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – The presidents of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, will meet on Valaam Island (Lake Ladoga) in Russia’s Karelia, BelTA has learned.

The president of Belarus is currently on a working visit to Russia. In a one-on-one format, the two heads of state will discuss the most important and pressing matters concerning the development of Belarus-Russia relations and the implementation of the Belarus-Russia Union State projects. They will also focus on international agenda and regional security.
This will be the fourth visit to the island by the two leaders together. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin first traveled to Valaam in July 2019, followed by similar July meetings in 2023 and 2024. The leaders combined visits to the Valaam Monastery with informal talks to discuss key cooperation matters and the international situation.
