MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – We need to prepare my meeting with Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro in the near future, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he hosted the government session on 7 October to discuss measures to counteract the sanctions, BelTA has learned.
The head of state mentioned that prior to the session he met with Venezuela president's special envoy Adan Chavez, elder brother of late leader Hugo Chavez.
“We were unanimous that we need to restore the level of relations that we had, and take them further. Venezuela has everything we need. We have everything Venezuela needs. What is holding us back? We have to find ways of making mutual settlements and resuming trade,” the president said.
“We need to prepare everything necessary so that the presidents of the two countries could meet in the near future and decide on the major avenues of our cooperation,” added Aleksandr Lukashenko.
