Lukashenko outlines tasks for Mogilevliftmash new leader

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko reviewed the state of affairs at Mogilevliftmash and outlined key tasks for the enterprise’s new director general as he unveiled new appointments on 17 April, BelTA has learned.

The head of state appointed Ruslan Strakhar Director General of Mogilevliftmash. Aleksandr Lukashenko asked the new leader about the state of affairs at the company.
The president was informed that the holding company has a total of 5,500 employees (4,800 at the main site, which includes the Electrodvigavel plant). The holding company also operates such companies as Zenit (based in Mogilev and specializing in electronics), Vetraz Plant (headquartered in Vitebsk Oblast), and an agricultural enterprise in Bykhov District that employs over 130 people.

"Are all these enterprises operating at full capacity?" the president asked. "Are they economically efficient?"

Ruslan Strakhar said that all enterprises are currently operating steady. "Mogilevliftmash Holding Company earned approximately Br50 million in net profit last year," he said. According to him, the primary focus remains on the Russian market. "The number one topic at Mogilevliftmash is to promote elevators to the Russian market, a challenging, competitive, but, as we say, our market."Nowadays, Russia is implementing a large-scale program to renovate elevators.

The meeting also touched upon former Head of the company Sergei Chertkov, who was appointed Mogilev Mayor in March this year.

The head of state recalled that when making that personnel decision, he instructed Sergei Chertkov to remain involved in the enterprise’s affairs for a while until the next leader gets up to speed. Since the enterprise is located in Mogilev, the city executive committee is interested in its effective development. Ruslan Strakhar, who previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, is expected to assist the Mogilev mayor in landscaping the city and making it more attractive and comfortable.

“Mogilev needs to become a truly beautiful and cozy city,” the head of state noted. So far, this regional center lags behind others, the president believes.

“It will be bad if we fail to set the city to rights,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. Speaking about examples of improvements, the president mentioned the recreation area in Podnikolye Park. This area was spruced up and landscaped to become a very popular place among local residents and visitors. “After the recreation area was inaugurated, people started flocking there en masse, especially the youth. The feedback is very good,” the president noted.

"Enterprises must also lend their support," the head of state added.

"The task is clear. We will work together," Ruslan Strakhar said.
