Lukashenko orders to tackle issue of Gatovo tannery's idle premises

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – During the visit to the Minsk Leather Production Association on 23 March, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko ordered to put the company's idle premises to rights, BelTA has learned.

The head of state asked the company's top management how big its premises are. According to Director General Olga Politiko, the company is located on the area of 27 hectares, but today half of the territory is not used. There are empty and unusable buildings there.

Aleksandr Lukashenko asked Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin and Aide Aleksandr Kosinets why the issue of the idle premises had not been resolved yet. After all, this task was set back in 2014 during the previous visit of the president. “Why has this issue not been fixed?” head of state asked.

The company's management and the officials hold different views on this issue: some push for demolition of the buildings and new production in place of them, others believe that the old workshops need to be upgraded to expand the tannery. However, no final decision has been made yet.

Aleksandr Lukashenko ordered to tackle the issue and put things in order in this territory so that the land does not stay idle.
