TIANJIN, 1 September (BelTA) – The memory of the Victory is the foundation for modern world order, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in the SCO Plus format, BelTA has learned.
“Now that history is being distorted and the heroism of our ancestors is being consigned to oblivion, we recognize particularly clearly that the memory of the Victory is the foundation on which the modern world order should be built,” the head of state said.
At the meeting, Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated all peace-loving states on the 80th anniversary of the common Victory in World War II. “This event became a turning point in world history. We paid a high price for freedom and peace. For Belarus, which lost every third resident during the last war, the preservation of historical memory and respect for the feat of the victors is a moral duty and the most important element of national identity,” the Belarusian leader noted.
